This cover to "Student Magazine" is rather unorthodox in its design and uses a scrapbook style presentation.
Atop a green background designed to look like a weathered notebook is a section of paper that appears to have been ripped out, this paper contains the various elements of the magazine.
In a break of tradition, the masthead is located in the lower left corner and is mostly eclipsed by the eye catch; part of it even appears ripped off. The only other element present on the cover, the main image, is a young male, possibly a student, and a series of arrows and other colourful designs concentrated around his head. The words "Science goes here" are encased in a large arrow pointing at the student's head.

Student magazine eschews the usual magazine conventions, little text, no cover lines and a masthead that is noticed last. The design choice of "ripped paper and images covering a old notebook" allows a student to relate to this magazine and the informal appearance promotes amity with the reader.
