The front cover started off with this background image.

The image was then cropped to better fit the characters and the background altered to a more homogeneous colour.

The Masthead was added

An underline was added to the Masthead to accentuate it's appearance

A barcode, price and issue number were added

I then added cover lines

To fill in the space at the bottom I added in a decorative blue bar

And filled in the blue bar with unique cover lines

Old vs New: Comparaison

.:Front Cover:.

In both cases these covers each have distinctive and unique mastheads that dominate the cover with their size and appearance. Both mastheads are brightly coloured and have some form of underlining element that is unique to them only. In both cases the main cover lines stand out through their size and uniqueness in the same manner that the mastheads do but in a considerably more minor fashion. The various cover lines are all diverse with minor differences individualising each and every one of them meaning that no cover line appears bland and uninteresting to the reader.
The cover images in both cases contain people looking directly at the reader, however the final version has more than one person allowing their gazes to branch off in different directions thus expanding the unseen space around them.
The cover images use a colour scheme that matches the colour scheme of the magazine, in the case of the final production this was achieved through lighting and recolouring the background. Both cover images have an abstract coloured background that creates a colour link between the highly detailed photos and the simplistically detailed text.

.;Contents Page:.

As with the original contents page, the respective RG equivalent uses a similar descending zigzag structure where the lower the placement, the higher the page number. The articles are both organized in categories of descending page order and both contents pages show a similar structure of section header within a mono coloured band and numbered bullet points below giving the page and describing the article. ‘The Meme’ and ‘The RG’ both open with a large title reading “Contents” with the issue number being placed nearby. Contained within each article section is a picture relevant to an article within that category, however The RG improves on this by adding a quote from the same article to attract interest and give a better preview of the contents.

.:Article:.

The biggest area of dissemblance lies with articles that are completely different bar some basic magazine conventions. At the top of both pages lies an article title and introductory subtitle and the text lies organized in columns. Both articles are interview and have photos of the interviewee adorning the pages. A page number lies at the bottom of the pages and they all follow a colour scheme, grey and red for the meme and blue with red for The RG.
The only similarities between these articles lie in the basic conventions of a magazine article but they each have vastly distinct styles.
