- The masthead is a single word but separates its two parts by capitalising the T which also has been made extra large making "Tones" the most noticeable element in the title and distinguishes itself a a music magazine.
- The lettering used for the cover uses all very similar Sans Serif fonts, most are capitalised; this simplifies the cover and shows that it is easy to read but keeps everything distinct and noticeable enough.
- The primary colours used are white, black and a slightly dark blue; these add a moody atmosphere to the cover while still keeping the text distinct and legible.
- The main cover line "Pink Floyd Unwrapped" uses large bold lettering and the words "Pink Floyd" use a unique and highly contrasting magenta colour, also representing the band, additionally there is a slight illumination behind the words; this cover line is immediately noticeable thanks to these factors.
- Other cover lines tend either disinguish themselves either through size ot a blue colouration; this gives balance to the cover's contents while still keeping them distinct.
- The main and only image on the cover is a bulbous dark green vine sprouting in the left side, small red hearts bloom on its stalks and a large diseased looking heart sits in a spotlight in the center.
- The cover lines also are rather macabre using words such as "Deadly" and "Devil", these suggest a target audience of young possibly "rebellious" type people.
- The topmost part of the magazine advertises the type of articles present inside; these allow potential buyers to know what to expect before even picking it up.
